We have ended chapter six.
The party has 3 months of free time before the start of chapter seven.
During this time, you may shop, craft, create, or just kick back.
Other than that, nothing significant or important happens during this time.
Xerxes (Dan) has the lesser amulet of the planes, so plane traveling is easily done, once a day. Please limit such travel to Occipitus and the City of Greyhawk for this period of 3 months. Save exploring other places for game time.
All shopping, creating, and crafting needs to be done before the next session.
Use the comments below to document all such activities for your character. (Comment by clicking the Comment link below).
Selling: If you plan to sell, follow the normal rules for selling, 50% plus 1% per achievement. Jewelry and Art is sold at 100% plus 1% per achievement. (Unless you have taken the floating bonus option, then use a flat 50% or 100%). If you don't know if something qualifies for art/jewelry, just reply to this with a comment about it.
Buying: You can buy items up to your item level. You buy at 100% minus 1% per achievement. (Unless you have taken the floating bonus option, then use a flat 100%). Remember that you can buy items that are one level above your item level at double the cost.
Character level 9th (item level 9) max 5,000 gp
Character level 10th (item level 10) max 6,500 gp
Character level 11th (item level 11) max 8,000 gp
Character level 12th (item level 12) max 10,000 gp
Character level 13th (item level 13) max 13,000 gp
Character level 14th (item level 14) max 18,000 gp
Crafting: You make weekly checks. Normally there is a penalty for failure, but for this special situation, instead of rolling, take 10 on your rolls. You have 12 weeks (3 months) of creating time. Be sure to note items you are crafting and the materials and costs of materials.
Item Creation: You have 84 days (3 months) of creating time. Be sure to note the items you are creating and the materials, xps, cost, and spells you have to cast. If you can't cast a certain spell for the item, you can pay someone to cast it (check the Aryathan Jiil Shoppe.pdf on the google drive for Spellcasting costs), or you may be able to ask one of your party members for the spell to be cast (in which case, add it into the comments below).
Important Note: Any shopping, crafting, or item creation that is not done in the comments below before the next game session will have to take place during game time, and this will likely be very limited because of events in chapter 7.

This time may also be used to scribe spells into spellbooks. Note the spells and costs of scribing.
Korinth would like to cast the spell Call Faithful Servants, as many times as is needed in order to get the most number of HD creatures he can. He can control no more than 2 HD per caster level so this means a total of 5 HD worth of creatures. He will do this until he is able to summon and control one Mesteval Gaurdinal, one Coure Eladrin and one Lantern Archon. He will also cast Valiant Steed to summon a Pegasus, fixing the strength drain required for the casting with a Restoration spell.
I have decided to hold off on shopping until I have enough gold and am at a high enough level to get the items I want. There really isn't that much the cleric wants. We've gone without for so long it feels weird to be able to shop again anyway.
Oops... I totally did the math wrong on that HD part. 2 HD per caster level means Korinth can control 22 total HD of creatures summoned. So he will cast the spell until he has three each of the three different kinds of creatures, which will be only 15 HD total.
This is a nice spell. However, it also has the Celestial component, which means Korinth would have to be a Celestial (a.k.a. an angel) to cast this spell.
So Korinth has the Celestial Domain, which doesn't require him to be a Celestial to gain that domain, and the 6th level domain spell is Call Faithful Servants. But he can't cast it because he needs to be a Celestial to cast it?
I did some research and it does so happen that you are correct. Only Outsiders with the good subtype who take the Celestial Domain benefit from the Call Faithful Servants spell from that domain.
I looked through the templates, celestial and half-celestial would not do the trick. The Einherjar template (from Deities and Demigods) is the only template that can turn a Humanoid (human) into an Outsider (good) at the cost of +4 Level Adjustment. Sadly, it requires 10 levels of Barbarian, Fighter, Ranger, or Paladin to gain the template.
So for the humans clerics who take the Celestial domain, they will have a dead spell at 6th level.
There could be other options, like the Substitute Domain spell (Complete Champion page 128.)
Hi Brian, Here is what Osiris is going to do with the down time. First, the items I am going to purchase are: Phylactery of Change for 11,200 GP, Arms and Equip, purchased by the Warlock since he now has an effective level of 13. Artificer's Monocle for 1,500 GP, MIC, pg 72, Ring of Counterspells for 4,000 GP, DMG 230, Crystal of Return lesser for 1,000 GP ,MiC 65, Scroll of Arcane sight 375 GP, Scroll of Darkness 150 GP, All purchased by me with my discount. Second, Osiris is going to make these spells, all of which he can cast, permanent:
You can make the following spells permanent in regard to yourself.
Spell Minimum Caster Level XP Cost
Arcane sight
11th 1,500 XP
Comprehend languages
9th 500 XP
Darkvision
10th 1,000 XP
Detect magic
9th 500 XP
Read magic
9th 500 XP
See invisibility
10th 1,000 XP
Tongues
11th 1,500 XP
This will be a total XP cost of 6618, with the two scrolls inscribed into my spell book. This will take Osiris to just a little below 12 level, making him an 11th level wizard. FYI, I will use my discount to make purchases for anyone, it's at 10%, that wants to take advantage of it. Thanks
Everything looks good. Great looking itemized list. I like that.
Be aware that you cannot spend enough xp to drop a level, or that would lower your xp total below the level you are on. If you reach that low you simply do not have enough xp to spend. Another way to look at it is, once you level up you bake-in the xps from all previous levels and cannot spend those xps for anything.
And a special note about the Phylactery of Change. That is only in 3.0 sources. So I need to do a little bit of 3.5 notes here for you.
Phylactery of Change: It takes up a throat slot. By using a command word (standard action), the phylactery activates an effect like the Polymorph spell on the wearer with a permanent duration or until the phylactery is removed or until the effect is dispelled. This has no effect on any polymorph subschool spells the wearer is subject to. Each day at dawn you may choose a new form for the Polymorph spell effect, as long as it is still in effect. It has caster level 7 in regards to dispel attempts against it.
Hi Brian, Ok with that said, Osiris will only be able to make permanent at this time:
Arcane sight
11th 1,500 XP
Darkvision
10th 1,000 XP
See invisibility
10th 1,000 XP
I will also still be able to buy both scrolls and scribe them in my spell book. The Phylactery of Change looks good to. Also, I made sure to purchase all foci for my spells including:
Scrying: A mirror of finely wrought and highly polished silver costing not less than 1,000 gp. The mirror must be at least 2 feet by 4 feet.
Contingency: A statuette of you carved from elephant ivory and decorated with gems (worth at least 1,500 gp). You must carry the focus for the contingency to work.
I will be studying in the way of the Duskblade. I will do this until I have mastered the way of the Duskblade.
I'm buying a +2 cloak of charisma for 4,000 gold.
