By the GODS! Have my prayers been answered? Have we truly
escaped the undead plague? It appears so. The stench of rotting flesh has faded
considerably to give way to the smell of clean, open forest air! After a brief
discussion with the Cleric, I am positive we are no longer tied to the wretched
city; I can only hope that the other survivors received a similar fate or were
put down mercifully. Now I must focus and find my path for who knows what
dangers this new land holds in store for me and my party. Speaking of party, I
noticed that the Archer Darkshelm seems a little "different" then
before, but how I'm not quite sure. No matter, as long as his arrows still ring
true to the target, that's good enough for me. As we follow the Cleric to the
closest neighboring town I can't help but notice how familiar this area seems
to him, as if he has been here before. I often find myself thinking of my
beautiful homeland of Aerenal a somewhat Kingdom of the Elves. Over time
I found Aerenal
more of an illusion of what once was and simply longed for more. It was then
I decided, despite the strong objections by my parents, to see what the rest of
the world had to offer. An opportunity to create my own path and choose
my own destiny not wait, like so many others, to have their lives determined
for them by the gods or worse, at the tip of some beggar’s dirty dagger. So
with a weary heart, and heavy backpack, I left with my trusted familiar Mortis
and began my slow march to what I trust to be true self-discovery and arcane
perfection. And thus, that is how I found myself with this group of adventures,
more diverse in nature and personality then the snowflakes that make up a
thundering avalanche! We have been through so much and expect there is much
more to come. As reach one of the poorest villages I have ever seen, the Cleric
takes some time to talk to the local Man of Healing. After a brief dissuasion
we head to nearby tavern were we discover that the town has been besieged
by local bandits that have started kidnapping townsfolk for who knows what. As
a "protector of the less fortunate" this is something I cannot allow.
Fortunately for me, my companions feel the same. After make a copy of the
wanted poster, we take a few moments to formulate a plan. In the middle of this
we are interrupted by a Dwarf and a Human. After talking to the Human, we find
that they have been sent to rid this area of the bandits and bring them to
justice. Well I have no problem adding to more warriors to the group, as long
they can pull their weight!
